Introduction

Bubbleology came to us needing a new, dynamic online presence to match their rapid growth.

As bubble tea shops started to emerge all over the country, it was important to feature their increasing availability without breaking off from their current identity. But the challenge was not small: Bootstrap a website that would take their existing digital footprint to the next level, whilst retaining the fun, bespoke, playful nature of the Bubbleology experience.

At Mutatio, we first undertook market research for first understanding the essence of the brand as well as the need of their audience. We set out to keep Bubbleology’s position as a market leader, providing a mobile friendly, dynamic platform that matched the playful exuberance and creativity of the brand. This balance can be seen in the resulting design, a bold and interactive digital space that brings the Bubbleology experience to life.

Visual Identity, Art Direction

The art direction chosen for Bubbleology was colorful, lively, and youthful. We wanted to ensure that we put an emphasis on bold, eye-catching visuals.

The bright colours, clean lines, and modern typography are combined to create a fun and engaging atmosphere.

We used a lot of the imagery of the bubble tea drinks to ensure that we could showcase that the product aligned closely with the brand identity. We used images to enhance the playful tone of the brand.

We created dynamic illustrations and creative layouts to add an element of energy and excitement.

The design of Bubbleology was to aim to a broader audience while distinguishing its unique flavours and vibrant brand personality in a competitive market. The website had to be user friendly on a multitude of platforms as well as excelling in search engine optimisation.

Customer Experience

We focused on providing a customer experience, so visitors can easily explore the Bubbleology website. With clear product categories, it was easy to navigate through and find your favourite drinks, and view detailed nutritional information. By addressing customers in a relatable, casual manner, the page allows customers to use their information processes to make smart decisions, while providing a seamless browsing experience in line with the fun and infectious spirit of the Bubbleology brand.

One of the most appealing aspects of the website is a site-specific map that they’ve built to show customers where they can purchase the Bubbleology tea. With this option, customers can seamlessly shop from both online and offline stores easily and discover stores closest to them that offer Bubbleology products.

This interactive map successfully communicates Bubbleology’s more recent expansion by facilitating the transition from the website to the store, thereby increasing foot traffic and creating a unified and engaging brand experience both on the world wide web and on the high street.

Mutatio’s design for Bubbleology is a bright, contemporary take on the playful and customisable bubble tea offerings for which the brand is known. From the striking and dynamic visuals, to the moving interactive elements that evoke a sense of fun that represents the very spirit of Bubbleology, everything about the site oozes the vibrancy and character of the brand. The site strikes a successful balance between modern appeal and functionality, ensuring it remains visually interesting and in a crowded diamond market but also easy and relevant to use.

To make the site as engaging as it informative, much attention was given to clear product presentation. The layout for each bubble tea category is clean and straightforward, making it easy for customers to look through the range of products. The user experience is optimised for recurring visits and community building. Such elements ensure that more brand values of inclusivity, fun, and creativity are carried through every touchpoint of the customer experience — from ordering to interaction.

The site really does encapsulate Bubbleology’s youthful spirit and goal to provide a fun experience that you can get involved with. This design not only encapsulates the playfulness of the brand but also enhances and promotes the brand’s commercial objectives by creating an enjoyable, intuitive online shopping system.
